When it Rains…

July 8, 2008

Let’s try this again. Last week, I started experiencing some issues with the new version of my site. These problems compounded, and in the middle of fixing those issues I managed to spread the issues to m online store and the software that runs my client slideshows. For those keeping score, I went from having three well-oiled and functioning sites (main, store, and galleries), to a seemingly insurmountable failure at every possible point.

What does all this mean? The most immediate difference is that the old slideshows, store, and any content I added to the previous short-lived version of the site no longer exist. I have all of the images, but none of them are online at this point.

That’s the bad news.

The good news is that I’ve been forced to take a hard look at how I run my various online efforts. The first change I made is a move to a platform called WordPress. The second is a move to an entirely new host. These two changes mean I’ll be able to publish more content and you’ll be able to get it much, much faster. That, and the fact that the whole thing won’t come crashing down once every month or so. Finally, I’ll be experimenting with a new online storefront to replace the old version.

Although the timing isn’t great, I’m actually excited to roll out all of these new changes. I’ll be updating things quite a bit over the next couple of months. Some changes will be noticeable, some won’t. Feel free to let me know what you like and don’t like as I update the site.

All of this is a long, long way for me to say I’m terribly sorry for all of the issues. I think I’m on the right path to getting everything back online in as good or better shape than it was.

Thanks for your patience!

New Year, New Site

March 31, 2008

Spring is here, and that means it’s time to do some cleaning. The first thing to go is the site I have had in place for almost two years. In the very near future, I will have one site for most content and the blog. This new site will also link directly to the online store.

I’m not ready to flip the switch on the new site yet, but here’s a preview of what is most likely the new logo.

Stay tuned.

Keira

This weekend I got to take pictures for some friends from my old job. Their new daughter, Keira, has the bluest eyes I have ever seen.

Here are a couple of samples:

Nicole

December 15, 2007

I am constantly amazed at how many nice people I have met since I started this whole thing. Today I got to meet yet another really great family, including their baby girl, Nicole. We spent a solid two hours trying to coax a smile out of her. We never got the “perfect” smile, but we did end up with some great “serious” shots.

This is one of my favorites.

Christmas in Deep Ellum

December 8, 2007

We finally got around to taking the pictures for Nolan’s Christmas Card today. We tried something a bit different and went down to Deep Ellum to see what we could find. He had a blast and I decided I had to share some of my favorites.

…and because I know you’re wondering, it’s a Bob Dylan t-shirt.
